Development of an innovative technology for producing
die-casting from aluminum alloys
with improved quality parameters
Project goal:
A significantly improved product – a die-cast aluminium alloy of higher quality due to reduced porosity, increased shape and dimensional stability and/or better mechanical properties.
Planned effects to be achieved:
The project will result in a significantly improved product – a die-cast of higher quality. Creating this innovative casting also requires work on the development and implementation of a casting technology under reduced pressure in the cavity (special die-casting technology).
The following specific results were planned to be achieved:
- reducing the porosity of castings to no more than 1.5% and meeting the requirements of class II according to ASTM E505,
- increasing the heat treatment temperature – target value: 300 ⷪC,
- increasing the tensile strength to at least 240MPa,
- elongation of the A5 die casting to at least 1.2%,
- reducing the number of rejects to 1.5 kg/100 kg of castings,
- increasing the amount of circulating scrap in the charge to 40 kg/100 kg of liquid metal.
The project is carried out in a consortium with the Lodz University of Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Technology in Krakow.
