Design and construction of a pressure mold for serial aluminum castings
Customer challenge
The client needed to quickly design and manufacture molds for mass production of aluminum castings, while simultaneously shortening implementation time and optimizing tooling costs. Limiting subsequent rework during mass production was crucial.
Which we did technically
- reverse engineering and CAD mold design,
- casting simulations (shrinkage, flow, castability),
- design of cooling and degassing channels,
- production of molds using precision machining and electro-discharge machining,
- trial tests, corrections and preparation of the mold for serial production.
