Precision machining of an aluminum crossmember for the drivetrain
Customer challenge
The drive system manufacturer needed a stable machining process for aluminum crossmembers with the required fit tolerances and high surface durability for large production runs. Previous methods lacked dimensional repeatability, causing assembly problems.
Which we did technically
- machining on a dedicated CNC center with CAM programming,
- use of tools with coatings for aluminum alloys,
- development of machining cycles with minimal cooling and vibration control,
- implementation of SPC and control measurements for the first batches,
- optimization of cutting parameters.
Effect for the client
- improved dimensional repeatability,
- extending tool life,
- reduction of assembly complaints thanks to better fit of components.
